Oscar Howe works head to Reno, Nevada

Coeur d’Alene Art Auction will have four exceptional Oscar Howe (Yanktonai Dakota) works in upcoming sale on July 26 in Reno, Nevada. Considered one of the most important Native American painters, Howe painted complex and modern works that were cutting edge 50 years ago, and still today. Among the four works is Dawn Rider, showing a horse and rider falling toward the viewer. The piece is estimated at $150,000 to $250,000. The combined estimate for the four works is $600,000 to $1 million, which makes the pieces some of the most significant pieces by the artist to come to market.
